An exceptionally deep red beetroot leaf. Use this sweet tasting root when immature (35 days). Ideal to colour up salads. The colour intensifies as the plant matures into the autumn.
Grow in moist, well-drained, fertile soil, which has been raked to a fine tilth. Water ground regularly, especially in dry periods. Also suitable for growing in containers.
Sow seeds thinly, 13mm (1/2″) deep
Space rows 30cm (12in) apart.
Thin out seedlings when large enough to handle, to 10cm (4in) apart.
